ABOUT Doreen . . .

Doreen is an author, artist, and art teacher with a deep connection to words and images that is rooted in her childhood. Her writing for children and adults has been published in FACES Magazine, FrostFire Worlds, Stinkwaves, Rainbow RumpusArtsonia, Pack-O-Fun’s Art Smarts feature, and in PARENTGUIDE News. Her illustrations for children have appeared in Stinkwaves Magazine, Crow Toes QuarterlyBerry Blue HaikuGuardian Angel Kids, and Storytime.

Doreen has taught art for children of all ages for over thirty years and is a graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University. She holds bachelors’ degrees in English and Fine Art and certificates of completion from the Institute of Children's Literature and Scuola Lorenzo de'Medici in Italy. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, honor society in education and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, Doreen is also a volunteer at her local library where she is helping to plan a children’s garden.

Doreen loves the natural world and grew up with her pick of five tree houses and two fields to play in and a pond to swim and skate across. As prone as she is to the wanderlust of travel, Doreen makes her home and garden with two cats and a rescue dog in the inspiring Hudson Valley of New York.
